Help Us Protect Public Services
Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) are taking a two-day strike on 8/9 March, and a national overtime ban, to defend their redundancy pay from being cut by the government.
Changes to the payments, known as the civil service compensation scheme, would see staff robbed of up to a third of their entitlements and see low paid and loyal civic and public servants lose their accrued rights if they are forced out of a job.
With all the main political parties planning deep spending cuts, the PCS fear that cuts to the scheme will lead to tens of thousands of job losses on the cheap and make our public sector jobs more attractive to the private sector. This would have a devastating effect on quality public services when they are most needed to help people out of the recession.
Regional rallies will be held across the UK on Monday 8 March - details of which can be found on the PCS website.
Please do all you can to support this action.
