Lobby DfT against Network Rail job cuts
Following the successful lobby of Parliament last month 128 MPs to date have signed the parliamentary motion calling on Network Rail to reverse the job cuts. To keep up the pressure on Network Rail and the Government, the TSSA is working with the RMT in supporting a lobby of the Department for Transport on Tuesday 23 February 2010, the third anniversary of Grayrigg Rail crash.
The failure of Network Rail to implement, or implement fully, the majority of the track inspection and repair recommendations arising from the Grayrigg disaster, identified in the Marks Tey report, is tied in with the cuts Network Rail has proposed. A letter of protest shall be handed into Andrew Adonis Secretary of State for Transport asking that he intervenes to stop the cuts.
The details of the demo are 0900 -1000, Tuesday 23 February 2010, Department for Transport, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DR.
It is important that TSSA members support this initiative as part of the campaign against Network Rail plans to slash 1,500 safety-critical jobs.
