London Rise Festival July 8th 2006

On Saturday 8th July 2006 over 70,000 people will gather in Finsbury Park, North London, from midday until 8.30pm to attend the Mayor of London’s celebration of the diverse cultures and communities that make up the city.

Rise: London United is the new name for Respect - a major music and entertainment festival for all Londoners that, for the last five years, has been the major showcase of the Mayor’s and the Greater London Authority’s commitment to cultivating and developing London as a great multi-cultural city with an active campaign to eliminate racism. The 2006 festival will consist of performance stages of free live music, with high-profile national and international acts. Previous performers at Rise: London United include Mis-Teeq, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Courtney Pine, Damage, De La Soul, Mica Paris, Big Brovaz and Panjabi MC.

A diverse range of areas and stages present the day’s entertainment, including:

A 2006 village; Mela stage; Urban music stage; Big Cuba Fiesta area; Continental Drifts stage; DJ Bus, and Comedy marquee.
