Number of trainers affected

At present the company has identified nine trainers who will be moving to Paddock Wood. Six will be moving from Ashford and three from Hither Green. A further two trainers could be moving in the future, but at present there is no welding facility at Paddock Wood so they will remain at Ashford.

Assessment of individual trainers travelling times & mileage:

An analysis has been done by the company to see if individual trainers are affected by extra travelling time and distance to the new location. According to this analysis, no one identified in this process will be travelling more than 45 minutes each way longer than they already do.

Contractual Rights

A. Role Clarity Contracts: For those employed on role clarity contracts, if the individual faces a longer travelling time they will be eligible for a lump sum payment depending on the increase in travelling time. Those currently working under a South East Allowance of £787 will receive an increase to an Outer London Allowance of £1210.

B. Other Contracts: Those trainers employed under other types of contracts ex AMEC/Balfour Beatty/British Rail etc will need to check their individual contracts regarding any mobility clauses contained in their terms and conditions.
