Cameron’s "Bare Faced Cheek" On Boosting Rail
The charge was made by Britain’s second largest rail union, the TSSA, after the Leader of the Opposition visited Leeds to talk about transport.
“David Cameron is merely talking about recycling existing investment-he is not talking about spending an extra penny to ease overcrowding, “said union general secretary Gerry Doherty.
“Considering it is his party that created the current problems through their disastrous privatisation of the railways, he really has got a bare faced cheek. With passenger numbers due to rise by 30% over the next seven years, passengers want more than just warm words.
“They want vision and extra investment. By talking about investing cash from the sale of franchises, Mr Cameron is merely tinkering at the edges. That will not come anywhere near solving the problems of overcrowding in the long term.”
